High performance application : Car rear wing
This 2 meter rear wing demonstrator highlights the structural capabilities of next generation natural fibre composites using BIOFIBIX Hypermat. The producer highlighted the excellent surface quality straight from the mould and the outstanding lacquered finish, outperforming other natural‑fibre materials tested. Trimming was reported to be noticeably easier than with comparable natural fibres, confirming Hypermat’s strong processability. Overall, Hypermat enables high‑quality, lightweight, and visually refined components.
RoundHouse Surf x BIOFIBIX
MD Surfboard’s high-performance model : The Sharp Sword
BIOFIBIX Hypermat has proven fully compatible with modern high‑performance surfboard manufacturing, achieving competitive weight targets and strong structural integrity. Reinforcement placement and the unique damping behaviour of flax allows precise tuning of board behaviour, from smooth stability to responsive, high‑energy performance in the water. Testing also showed notably improved durability with fewer impact‑related dings than standard constructions. Overall, Hypermat offers a credible pathway toward lightweight, durable, and performance‑tuned surfboard designs.

Pop-up roof for electric camper van
BIOFIBIX Hypermat is currently undergoing qualification for SCA’s new generation of pop‑up roofs and has shown excellent compatibility with the RTM‑Light manufacturing process. Early results confirm that Hypermat meets structural performance needs while offering reduced resin uptake and improved moisture resistance compared to conventional flax materials. With several roof shells already manufactured successfully and series production targeted for 2026, Hypermat demonstrates strong potential as a sustainable, high‑quality alternative to glass fibre in exterior automotive components.
Von der Linden GmbH x BIOFIBIX
DuFLEX Composite Panels
Going back to 2024, this marked the first industrial validation of Hypermat. During the collaboration, we were able to increase the fiber volume fraction from 22% to 38% and demonstrate that the panels are structurally competitive with stitched glass fabrics in a 0/90 layup, with Hypermat panels showing higher torsion resistance.
BIOFIBIX can supply laminates in sheets or coils, which are typically used for sandwich‑panel construction in the caravan, truck, and marine industries.
FLAXX Rackets x BIOFIBIX
Padel Rackets
FLAXX Rackets integrates BIOFIBIX Hypermat into its Belgian‑made padel rackets to achieve exceptional vibration damping, lightweight strength, and consistent playing comfort. The material’s isotropic fibre architecture delivers a more uniform response upon ball impact, resulting in an enlarged sweet spot. Players note the improved comfort, ball control and reduced arm strain enabled by Hypermat’s superior damping, delivering a smooth yet powerful feel on every shot.
